Oma'S (Grandma'S) Bread Pudding
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 4 c. bread or cake crumbs
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. dried fruits (any type), soaked in a little brandy or wine
- 1 tsp. vanilla, cinnamon or nutmeg
- 1/2 c. slivered almonds (optional)
- whipped cream or wine sauce
- Scald milk.
- Pour over bread crumbs and eggs.
- Add butter, sugar, raisins, fruit, slivered almonds and spices.
- Pour into well-buttered ovenproof dish (1 1/2-quart).
- Set in hot water about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep; bake at 350u0b0 for about 1 hour.
- (Try center; should come out dry.)
- Dot with butter and cinnamon-sugar if desired.
- Serve hot or cold with whipped cream or wine sauce (optional).
