Christmas Drops

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients; dredge in 1/2 cup flour, stirring well.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Beat butter in a large mixing bowl at medium speed of an electric mixer; gradually add brown sugar, beating well.
  4. Add eggs, mixing well.
  5. Add buttermilk.
  6. Combine remaining 3 cups flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture.
  7. Chill dough at least 1 hour.
  8. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 400u0b0 for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  10. Remove from cookie sheets immediately and cool on wire racks.
  11. Store at room temperature in airtight container or freeze.
  12. Yields 12 1/2 dozen.
