Lasagna
- 12 oz. onion, finely chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 c. oil
- 5 lb. ground beef
- 3 qt. tomato sauce
- 1 qt. tomato paste
- 1 tsp. basil, crumbled
- 1 Tbsp. oregano, crumbled
- 2 lb. 8 oz. noodles (lasagna)
- 2 gal. water
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 lb. 8 oz. Swiss or Mozzarella cheese, grated
- 1 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese (dry or drained)
- 2 lb. 8 oz. cottage cheese (dry or drained)
- Cook onion and garlic in oil.
- Add ground beef; cook slowly. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste and spices; continue cooking for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cook noodles and drain. Arrange in pans: layer of overlapping noodles, layer of meat sauce, Swiss or Mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese and Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat noodles, meat, cheese and noodles; spoon remainder of meat sauce on top.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
