Mom'S Pepper Steak
- 1 lb. beef, cut into very thin slices (sirloin or rib)
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 large green pepper, cut into thin strips
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 c. very thin diagonally sliced celery
- 1/4 c. unsulphured molasses
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. Accent
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 to 4 c. cooked rice
- 1 large can Chinese noodles
- Brown beef in heated oil in large skillet.
- Add pepper, onions and celery.
- Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in molasses, soy sauce, lemon juice and seasoning.
- Blend water and cornstarch.
- Quickly stir into beef mixture. Cover. Simmer 5 minutes.
- Serve over hot cooked rice and/or heated Chinese noodles.
- Makes 2 to 3 servings.
- Add a touch more lemon juice to cut sweet taste.
