Danish Pastry Apple Bars

  1. Combine flour and salt; cut in margarine and butter.
  2. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well.
  3. Stir into flour.
  4. Roll half of dough into jelly roll pan.
  5. Sprinkle cold cereal on dough.
  6. Top with apples; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll out remaining dough to fit top. Seal edges.
  8. Beat egg whites until frothy; brush over top of dough.
  9. Bake until golden brown.
  10. Glaze warm bars with powdered sugar, milk and vanilla mixture.
