Pecan Delights

  1. In large saucepan, combine first four ingredients.
  2. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Gradually add milk and stir well.
  4. Continue cooking until candy thermometer reads 248u0b0 (firm ball stage).
  5. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
  6. Fold in pecans. Drop by tablespoon on well buttered cookie sheet.
  7. Chill until firm.
  8. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler.
  9. Dip each cluster.
  10. Cool.
  11. Makes about 4 dozen.
