Italian Casserole With Biscuit Topping
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1/2 tsp. basil
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1 can buttermilk biscuits
- 1 1/2 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Brown ground beef and onion, drain.
- Add tomato sauce, paste, water, garlic and spices.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from stove.
- Add vegetables and 3/4 cup cheese.
- Put in 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Arrange biscuits (that have been pulled apart to make two) in an oval over the top.
- Sprinkle with a little oregano and put the remaining 3/4 cup cheese in the center.
- Bake 25 minutes at 375u0b0.
