J.O.'S Swiss Steak
- 2 lb. round steak
- 1 onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 large can stewed tomatoes
- 1 small can mushroom steak sauce
- flour
- salt and pepper
- oil
- Cut steak into serving pieces and season with salt and pepper. Coat each piece with flour and brown in a small amount of oil. Remove each piece once browned.
- Once all are browned, add steak sauce to the crumbs left in oil and mix well.
- Add chopped onion and bell pepper and wilt every so slightly.
- Add the can of tomatoes and stir well.
- Place steak back in pot (may have to stack on top of each other) and try to push some pieces down into gravy. Cover and cook in a 300u0b0 oven for 2 hours.
- Remove from oven and take meat out of gravy.
- Add water if more gravy is needed.
- To thicken, add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to water before adding to mixture.
- Heat on high on stove top and serve over rice.
