Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Grease a 13 by 9 inch baking dish. Heat 4 cups milk in a medium saucepan just until bubbles form around edge of pan, about 7 min.
  3. Combine warm milk and bread cubes in a medium bowl.
  4. Let stand until cool.
  5. Whisk 3 eggs in a medium bowl.
  6. Stir in sugar, baking powder and salt.
  7. Add bread cube mixture and mix well.
  8. Stir in butter and vanilla.
  9. Spoon bread mixture into prepared dish.
  10. Bake until set and lightly browned, about 1 hour. For sauce, combine brown sugar and flour in a medium saucepan.
  11. Stir in remaining milk and remaining eggs. Cook over low heat, stirring continually, until thickened. Drizzle over bread pudding in dessert bowls.
