Spicy Barbecue Sauce
- 6 cloves unpeeled garlic
- 2 c. ketchup
- 2 stalks chopped celery
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. oleo
- 1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 c. cider vinegar
- 3 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. instant coffee granules
- 2 tsp. dried crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- Bake garlic in a small baking pan at 350u0b0 for 20 to 30 minutes or until lightly brown.
- Cool and peel.
- Combine garlic and remaining ingredients in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
- Cool.
- Pour into blender; process until smooth, stopping once to scrape down sides.
- Yields 4 1/2 cups.
