My Italian Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1 can tomato paste (6 oz.)
- 1 can tomato puree or sauce
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- salt
- pepper (black)
- 1 onion
- 1 rib celery
- 1/4 c. green pepper
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp. sweet basil
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- Cook onion, green pepper, garlic and celery in butter and oil until tender.
- Add the other ingredients and cook for 2 to 3 hours on low heat.
- This is enough sauce for 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of pasta. After spaghetti is cooked, drain.
- Pour sauce over and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- This can be doubled and tripled.
