Braised Beef With Cabbage

  1. Heat oil in large skillet.
  2. Add beef and brown on all sides. Remove.
  3. Add onions to skillet, and cook slowly until golden brown.
  4. Add browned beef.
  5. Stir in 1 cup water.
  6. Add apple and tomatoes, then sprinkle with sugar, salt and pepper.
  7. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer covered for 2 hours.
  8. Add potatoes and cabbage to meat mixture; simmer, covered, for 20 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender.
  9. Makes 4 servings.
