Lazy Way Soup
- 2 lb. lean ground chuck, browned in microwave
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 1 large can tomato juice
- 1 large can V-8 juice
- 1 pkg. frozen Pictsweet vegetable for old fashion soup with seasoning
- 2 pkg. frozen Pictsweet vegetable for New Orleans gumbo with seasoning (be sure to get Pictsweet brand; the secret is in the seasoning packets)
- 1/2 head cabbage, sliced
- 3 sections garlic
- 2 or 3 bay leaves
- salt and pepper
- Throw it all together (except for seasoning packets) in the biggest pot you can find (8-quart).
- Add a cup or so of water, if there's room.
- Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer a couple hours.
- After simmering about an hour, add contents of seasoning packets and a little more water if needed.
