Western Baked Beans
- 8 slices bacon
- 4 large onions, sliced and separated in rings
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. cider vinegar
- 1 can green lima beans, drained
- 2 cans large lima beans, drained
- 1 can dark red kidney beans, drained
- 1 (1 lb. 11 oz.) jar New England style baked beans, undrained
- Pan-fry bacon until crisp.
- Drain on towel; set aside.
- Place onion rings in large skillet and add the sugar, mustard, garlic powder, salt and vinegar.
- Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
- Add onion mixture to the beans.
- Pour into 3-quart casserole.
- Bake covered 1/2 hour at 350u0b0.
- Uncover and bake 1/2 hour longer. Crumble bacon over beans.
- Makes 12 servings.
