Waikiki Meatballs

  1. Mix thoroughly beef, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, ginger and milk. Shape mixture by tablespoon into balls.
  2. Melt shortening in large skillet; brown and cook meatballs.
  3. Remove meatballs.
  4. Pour fat from skillet.
  5. Mix cornstarch and sugar.
  6. Stir in reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce until smooth.
  7. Pour in skillet; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens.
  8. Boil 1 minute.
  9. Add meatballs and pineapple tidbits; heat thoroughly.
  10. Serve over bed of rice.
