Savory Beef Mushroom Burgers

  1. Combine
  2. chuck,
  3. cereal, onions, coarsely ground pepper, garlic
  4. and
  5. milk in a medium bowl;
  6. stir well.
  7. Divide mixture into
  8. 4
  9. equal
  10. portions,
  11. shaping
  12. each
  13. into a 3/4-inch thick patty.
  14. Set
  15. patties aside.
  16. Combine cornstarch and 2 teaspoons water,
  17. stirring until cornstarch dissolves; set mixture aside. Coat
  18. a small nonstick skillet with vegetable spray; place over medium
  19. heat
  20. until
  21. hot.
  22. Add sliced mushrooms and saute until tender.
  23. Remove
  24. mushrooms
  25. from
  26. skillet
  27. and
  28. set aside.
  29. Add cornstarch
  30. mixture, remaining 1/2 cup water, bouillon granules and
  31. 1/8 teaspoon pepper to skillet; cook over medium high heat until
  32. thick and bubbly, stirring constantly.
  33. Return mushrooms to skillet
  34. and
  35. stir
  36. well.
  37. Remove
  38. from heat and keep warm. Broil patties 7 inches from heat for 3 minutes on each side or to desired
  39. degree
  40. of
  41. doneness.
  42. Spoon
  43. sauce
  44. over patties, sprinkle
  45. with parsley.
  46. Yield:
  47. 4 servings, about 267 calories per patty and 3 tablespoons sauce.
