Layered Salad
- 1 head lettuce
- 1/2 c. diced celery
- 1/2 c. diced red onion
- 1/2 c. diced green pepper
- 1/2 c. shredded carrots
- 1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 2 to 3 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 to 3 medium tomatoes
- 8 to 10 slices bacon
- 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
- Cut lettuce into bite size pieces and place in bottom of 13 x 9-inch dish.
- Mix celery, onion, pepper, carrots and water chestnuts together; spread evenly over lettuce.
- Spread Hellmann's mayonnaise over top of mixture.
- Make sure you use sufficient mayonnaise, because this will become your dressing when served. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons sugar over mayonnaise.
- Cover with plastic wrap; let stand overnight in refrigerator.
