Chocolate Chunk Brownies
- 3/4 c. cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2/3 c. butter or margarine (divided use)
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 3/4 c. (10 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- Heat the oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2-inches.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter.
- Add boiling water; stir until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup of melted butter; stir until smooth.
- Add the flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely.
- Stir in the nuts (if desired) and chocolate chunks.
- Pour into a prepared pan.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- Cool completely in the pan.
- Cut into squares.
- Makes about three dozen brownies.
