Old-Fashioned Apple Pie
- 4 to 5 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- your favorite 2-crust pie dough
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl; add apples to mix.
- Add lemon juice and mix thoroughly.
- Place pie dough in a 9-inch pan. Add apple mixture.
- Drizzle molasses over top of apples.
- Cut butter into small pieces and place over top.
- Add top crust, making a few slits in top.
- Bake at 425u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes, then cover edge of crust with foil to keep it from burning and continue baking for another 30 to 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
