Microwave French Onion Soup

  1. In a 3-quart casserole combine onion and butter or margarine. Cook, covered, on High (100%) for 8 to 11 minutes or until onions are tender, stirring after half the cooking time.
  2. Stir in beef broth and hot water.
  3. Cover, cook on High (100%) for 4 to 6 minutes or until heated through, stirring once.
  4. Ladle soup into 4 large individual bowls or casseroles.
  5. Top with bread slices. Sprinkle evenly with cheeses.
  6. Cook on Medium-high (70%) for 3 to 5 minutes, or until cheese melts, rearranging bowls once or twice. Makes 4 servings.
