Fish Chowder

  1. Fry bacon in large saucepan until crisp and golden; remove from pan.
  2. Add garlic and onion; saute for 5 minutes.
  3. Blend in flour.
  4. Add bacon and remaining ingredients, except cod and evaporated milk.
  5. Heat to boiling.
  6. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add fish, cook 10 minutes more; stir occasionally.
  7. Stir in evaporated milk.
  8. Heat just to boiling.
  9. Remove bay leaf and cloves before serving.
  10. Garnish with crisp bacon.
