Red Velvet Cake
- 3 oz. red food coloring
- 1 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 1/2 c. sifted granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 scant tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla
- 4 1/2 Tbsp. sweet milk
- 3/4 c. butter
- 3 eggs
- 3 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. cake flour, sifted
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. soda
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
- Cream butter and sugartogether;
- addtggs,
- one at a time, mixing well after
- each
- addition.tift flour, salt and soda together and
- add
- alternately
- with the buttermilk.
- Mix red food coloring and cocoatogether
- witht fork and add to the creamed mixture.
- Fold in flavoring and vinegar; mix well. Pour batter into 3 (9-inch)
- cake pans which have been greased and lined with waxed paper.
- Bake 35 minutes at 350u0b0.
