Real Italian Lasagne
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 2 tsp. oregano
- 2 tsp. marjoram
- 1 tsp. anise seed
- 1 can (15 oz.) tomatoes
- 1 large can tomato sauce
- salt and pepper
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 9 to 11 lasagne noodles
- 8 oz. cottage cheese (Ricotta is best)
- 12 oz. Mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb. lean ground round
- Brown garlic and green pepper in oil.
- Add tomatoes, sauce and spices; cook 45 to 60 minutes.
- Brown hamburger, add to first mixture, then cook another 15 to 20 minutes.
- Cook noodles as directed (glob of oil in water keeps noodles from sticking). Rotate in casserole dish:
- sauce mix, noodles, sauce, noodles, cheeses, sauce, noodles, cheeses; finish with cheese.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes until cheese melts.
