Apple Cobbler
- 1/2 stick butter or oleo
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour (self-rising)
- 1/2 Crisco
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 c. finely chopped apples
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Melt butter in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
- In saucepan, heat sugar and water until melts.
- Cut shortening (Crisco) into flour until particles are like fine crumbs.
- Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves sides of bowl.
- Turn onto floured board (or cloth).
- Knead until smooth. Roll out in rectangle 1/4-inch thick.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon over apples, then sprinkle apples evenly over dough.
- Roll up dough like jellyroll.
- Dampen edge of dough with water and seal.
- Slice dough into about 16 slices 1/2-inch thick.
- Place in pan with melted butter.
- Pour sugar syrup around rolls.
- Looks like too much liquid, crust will absorb.
- Cook 55 to 60 minutes.
- (Can use other fruit.)
