Soft Raisin Cookies

  1. Combine raisins and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. (Do not drain.)
  5. In mixing bowl, cream shortening.
  6. Gradually add sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
  7. Combine dry ingredients.
  8. Gradually add to creamed mixture and blend thoroughly.
  9. Stir in nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  10. Bake at 350u0b0 for 12 to 14 minutes.
  11. Yield: About 6 dozen cookies.
