Brown Edge Cookies

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg and flavorings.
  3. Mix salt, soda and cream of tartar to flour; add to mixture.
  4. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet; press down with floured glass, about 1 inch apart.
  5. (Use only a portion of the teaspoon for smaller cookies.)
  6. To flatten, dip cup or glass into flour and press down on raw cookie.
  7. Decorate center of cookies with a cherry, piece of candied fruit or walnut or pecan piece before baking.
  8. Bake at 375u0b0 for 10 minutes, until edge is light brown.
  9. Take off sheet immediately.
  10. Makes approximately 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
