Applesauce Cake

  1. Sift together flour, soda and salt.
  2. Combine raisins and nuts and toss with 2 tablespoons of flour mixture.
  3. Beat together shortening and spices.
  4. Gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Add flour mixture and applesauce, beating only until smooth.
  6. Stir in raisins and nuts.
  7. Grease Bundt or 3-quart ring mold.
  8. Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
  9. Cool in pan 15 minutes.
  10. Remove cake from pan and place on rack until cold.
  11. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
  12. Dust with confectioners sugar or use cream cheese frosting, if desired.
