Oriental Salad
- 1 head lettuce
- 2 cans mandarin oranges
- 1/2 lb. bacon
- 1 pkg. slivered almonds
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. celery seed
- 2 Tbsp. honey
- 1/2 tsp. grated onion
- 1;2 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. oil
- Tear lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- Dice bacon and fry crisp.
- Remove bacon from pan and lightly brown almonds in the bacon fat.
- Drain on paper towels; blot excess fat away.
- Combine sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, paprika, celery seed, honey, onion, mustard and salt in saucepan.
- Heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.
- Cool slightly and pour into a jar with tight lid.
- Add oil and shake well.
- Combine lettuce, oranges, bacon and almonds in serving bowl.
- Pour warm dressing over salad just before serving.
