Meat Pie
- 1 deep dish pie crust, uncooked
- 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 lb. sausage
- 1/3 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces, drained
- 1 small onion, chopped (1/4 c.)
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1 small jar spaghetti sauce
- basil to taste
- garlic powder to taste
- 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
- Preheat oven and cookie sheet to 400u0b0.
- Prick bottom and sides of pie shell with fork.
- Partially bake crust on cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cool.
- In large skillet, brown ground beef and sausage.
- Drain well.
- Add green pepper, mushroom and onion.
- Cook 2 minutes.
- Stir in water, spaghetti sauce, basil and garlic powder and simmer 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle half of Parmesan over bottom of crust.
- Spread half of meat mixture over Parmesan cheese.
- Sprinkle 1 cup Mozzarella cheese over meat.
- Layer remaining meat and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake on cookie sheet 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle top with remaining Mozzarella cheese.
- Return to oven 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
