Creamed Green Beans
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided
- 1/2 c. cornflakes, crumbled
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. instant minced onion
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 4 to 6 c. French-style green beans, cooked and drained
- 1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. sour cream
- In a small saucepan melt 1 tablespoon butter.
- Stir in cornflakes and set aside.
- Melt remaining butter in a large saucepan.
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, onion and sugar.
- Heat and stir until bubbly.
- Reduce heat and add sour cream.
- Stir until smooth.
- Cook and stir over low heat for 2 minutes (do not boil). Fold in the beans; spread into a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle cheese evenly over top.
- Sprinkle with cornflakes mixture.
- Bake, uncovered, at 400u0b0 for 20 minutes or until heated through.
- Yield:
- 6 to 8 servings.
