Chocolate Pie Surprise
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1/3 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla (optional)
- 1 (4 1/2 oz.) pkg. instant chocolate pudding or 1.5 oz. sugar-free
- 1 1/2 c. cold milk
- 1 c. whipping cream, whipped
- orange candy slices (optional, for garnish)
- Bake pie crust at 425u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Sprinkle bottom of hot pie crust with chocolate chips. When they melt, spread around to coat evenly.
- Cool.
- Meanwhile, whip cream cheese until fluffy.
- Add vanilla at this time, if desired.
- Spread over chocolate layer in pie crust.
- Mix together the pudding and cold milk.
- Whip until smooth and thick; set aside 5 minutes.
- Blend in the whipped cream, mixing well.
- Spread over cream cheese layer in pie crust.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or longer.
- Before serving, garnish with candy orange slices.
