Italian Casserole
- 1 1/2 lb. ground meat
- 1 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 (32 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 tsp. oregano leaves
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 5 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- In a 12-inch skillet, cook ground meat and onion until onion is tender, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add next 7 ingredients; cook 2 minutes to blend flavors.
- In a 13 x 9-inch baking dish, evenly spoon 1/3 meat mixture.
- Arrange potatoes on top.
- Repeat with meat mixture.
- Cover dish tightly with foil. Bake in 375u0b0 oven for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.
- Remove foil; sprinkle mixture evenly with Mozzarella cheese.
- Bake 10 minutes or until cheese melts.
- Let stand 10 minutes for easier cutting.
- Serves 8.
