Basic Barbecued Spareribs
- 5 lb. spareribs
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. dry mustard
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 c. orange juice
- 2 Tbsp. minced onion
- 2 minced cloves garlic
- 3 Tbsp. parsley
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- To prepare ribs: Simmer in a large pot with salted water to cover for 45 to 60 minutes, until meat begins to pull away from bones.
- In a bowl, combine sauce.
- Let stand for 15 minutes. Place ribs on deep platter; brush sauce on both sides.
- Let stand for 2 hours.
- Remove ribs.
- Pour sauce in a cup.
- Cook by barbecuing time table to desired doneness, brushing frequently with sauce.
- Serves 6.
