German Chocolate Pie

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch. Stir in milk, chocolate and the 1 tablespoon butter.
  2. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
  3. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more.
  4. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot mixture into eggs. Return mixture to saucepan.
  5. Bring to boiling.
  6. Cook and stir 2 minutes more.
  7. Stir in vanilla.
  8. Turn hot pie filling into baked pie shell.
