Christmas Cookies
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 4 eggs
- 5 Tbsp. buttermilk
- 3 scant tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. whiskey
- 1 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 lb. candied cherries
- 1/2 lb. white raisins
- 1/4 lb. candied lemon peel
- 1/4 lb. candied orange peel
- 2 lb. small pecan halves
- Sift 2 1/2 cups flour with cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
- Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar; add slightly beaten eggs.
- Add flour and liquid alternately.
- Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to mixture.
- Add whiskey.
- Cut up candied fruits and add nuts.
- Sift 1/2 cup of flour over fruits and nuts (keeps from sticking together).
- Fold in mixture.
- Drop by teaspoonful on greased and floured cookie sheet.
- Bake in preheated 250u0b0 oven for 25 minutes. Yield:
- 6 dozen.
- May be frozen.
