Chili
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 fresh jalapeno peppers, chopped (optional)
- 2 (8 oz. each) cans tomato sauce
- 1 can each: kidney beans and pinto beans, drain and rinse
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. chili powder to taste
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. cumin
- salt to taste
- In a large pot, heat oil and add onion, garlic and peppers. Saute until onion is tender and add meats.
- Cook through.
- Add tomatoes and tomato sauces and beans.
- Add remaining ingredients and lower heat to simmer for 1 hour.
- Serves 8 to 10.
- Serve over elbow macaroni or noodles.
