Red Velvet Cocoa Cake
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. red food color
- 2 c. unsifted flour
- 1/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- Fluffy Vanilla frosting
- Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a large mixer bowl.
- Add eggs and food color; blend.
- Combine flour, cocoa and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
- Stir baking soda into vinegar; fold carefully into batter (do not beat).
- Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes.
- Remove from pans.
