Chocolate Midgets

  1. Combine
  2. sugar, 1 cup flour and baking powder; mix well and set aside.
  3. Combine butter and chocolate syrup in a heavy saucepan;
  4. bring
  5. to a boil, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat
  7. and
  8. cool.
  9. Gradually
  10. stir into flour mixture.
  11. Stir in eggs
  12. and
  13. vanilla.
  14. Dredge pecans in remaining 1/2 cup flour; stir
  15. into
  16. batter.
  17. Pour
  18. batter
  19. into
  20. a greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
  21. Bake at 350u0b0 for 55 to 60 minutes or until wooden
  22. pick
  23. inserted in center comes out clean.
  24. Cool in pan for 10 minutes; cut into squares to serve.
