Icebox Butter Ring(No Sugar In Dough)
- 1 cake yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sour cream
- 4 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- Melted butter or margarine
- Cinnamon
- Chopped nuts
- Raisins
- Brown sugar
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk, add eggs and sour cream. Sift together flour and salt and cut in butter or margarine as for pie dough.
- Add yeast mixture.
- Mix well and chill overnight. Divide dough in 4 parts.
- Roll each to a rectangle, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and spread liberally with nuts, raisins and a hand full of brown sugar.
- Roll up like jelly roll sealing edge firmly.
- Form into a ring sealed side down on greased pan sealing ends.
- Brush with melted butter or margarine.
- Let rise 2 hours. Cut about 6 gashes in ring to let steam escape during baking. Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 minutes or until done.
- Frost with confectioners icing.
- Butter rings also are delicious with prepared poppy seed or Solo filling.
- Yields 4 rings.
