Hot German Potato Salad

  1. In large bowl, thaw and crumble potato patties.
  2. Cook and crumble bacon, reserving drippings.
  3. Using a wire whisk, stir flour into bacon drippings until smooth.
  4. Add sugar, vinegar, water, salt, pepper and celery seed.
  5. Stir mixture until well blended. Continue heating over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens. Pour mixture over crumbled hash brown patties.
  6. Stir to blend all ingredients.
  7. Make ahead and refrigerate to allow flavors to blend. Heat and serve.
  8. Makes 8 (1-cup) servings.
