Fried Pies(Berniece Harbaugh'S Recipe)

  1. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add the shortening and cut into flour mixture.
  3. Add milk and slightly beaten eggs.
  4. Chill overnight.
  5. Roll dough out thin to avoid being tough.
  6. Don't handle dough too much or it will shrink. Cut a circle the size of a pie plate.
  7. Be sure to lift dough before cutting.
  8. Fill with fruit or pudding.
  9. (Dried fruit makes easy to handle while eating.)
  10. Place fruit on 1/2 side of the circle.
  11. Wet edges with a little water.
  12. Fold over and seal edges.
  13. Fry in deep fat at 325u0b0 until golden brown on both sides.
  14. Makes about 40 pies.
