Stuffed Mirlitons
- 6 mirlitons
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 large white onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp. finely chopped bell pepper
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped mushrooms
- 1 lb. peeled, coarsely chopped raw shrimp
- 1/4 c. finely chopped celery
- 1 tsp. finely chopped parsley
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1/4 tsp. rosemary
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 c. dry unseasoned bread crumbs
- 1 egg, beaten well
- 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
- Boil the mirlitons in lightly salted water until a testing fork will pierce them all the way through (without using excessive force).
- Then remove them from the water and set aside to cool.
