Beef With Sour Cream
- 1 lb. lean round steak
- 1/4 c. flour, seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 3/4 c. chopped onions
- 1 c. beef broth
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms with liquid
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen garden peas
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 3 to 4 c. hot cooked rice
- Remove bone and fat from steak; cut into thin, narrow strips. Dredge in flour.
- Brown meat quickly in hot skillet on all sides. Add onions, broth, thyme and liquid from mushrooms.
- Cover; simmer for about 45 minutes, or until meat is tender.
- Add mushrooms and peas.
- Cover and cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Stir in sour cream; heat but do not boil.
- Serve over rice.
- Garnish with pimiento, if desired.
- Serves 6.
