Layered Cabbage Casserole
- 1 medium head cabbage
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 c. evaporated milk
- 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 c. sweet red pepper, chopped
- 1/5 c. onion, chopped
- 2/3 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 c. mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp. chili sauce
- Cut cabbage into small wedges; cook in boiling salted water until tender.
- Drain.
- Place wedges in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
- Set aside.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan; stir in flour, salt and pepper.
- Gradually stir in milk; cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Pour sauce over cabbage wedges.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 minutes.
