Apple Squares

  1. Mix flour, sugar and shortening as for pastry.
  2. Beat 2 egg yolks in a cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup.
  3. Add to first mixture and mix well.
  4. Roll half of dough; put in slightly greased jelly roll pan.
  5. Sprinkle 1/2 cornflakes on the crust.
  6. Slice the apples and place them on the cornflakes.
  7. Sprinkle rest of cornflakes, sugar and cinnamon over apples.
  8. Dot with a few pats of oleo.
  9. Cover with the rest of rolled pastry.
  10. Beat the egg whites until stiff and spread over crust.
  11. Bake for 1 hour at 350u0b0.
  12. While still warm, dribble with small amount of powdered sugar frosting.
  13. When cool, cut into squares.
  14. May use other fresh fruit.
