Chocolate Thumbprints(1993 Brownie Bake-Off Winner)

  1. Melt chocolate over hot water; cool.
  2. Cream the margarine. Add melted chocolate.
  3. Add sugar, egg yolk and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
  4. Sift flour and salt; add to mixture.
  5. Slightly beat egg white with fork.
  6. Roll dough into balls (about 1 teaspoon per ball).
  7. Dip in egg white to coat.
  8. Roll in nuts.
  9. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Make thumbprint in each gently.
  11. Bake at 350u0b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
  12. Take out immediately. Place 3 to 4 chocolate chips in thumbprint.
  13. When melted, spread evenly.
