Jif Peanut Butter Cookies(Won First Place Blue Ribbon State Fair 1993)

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Cream together the brown sugar, Jif and shortening.
  3. Beat in egg.
  4. Stir together the flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Beat until well mixed.
  7. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  8. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Flatten in a crisscross pattern with tines of a fork (dip fork in water, if necessary, to prevent sticking).
  10. Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  11. Cool slightly before removing from pan to cooling rack.
  12. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
