Swiss Chard Mornay

  1. Wash and drain Swiss
  2. chard.
  3. Cut
  4. offttalkstnd cut into one inch pieces.
  5. Coarselythop
  6. leaves.
  7. Bring one inch of water to a boil in
  8. a Dutch oven over high heat.tdd Swiss chard stalks and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  9. Reduce heat to medium and simmer
  10. covered 5
  11. minutes.
  12. Stir
  13. in
  14. chopped
  15. leaves.
  16. Cook covered 3 to 5 minutes;
  17. drain well. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat.ttir in flour and 1/2 teaspoontalt. Gradually stir
  18. in
  19. milk
  20. until
  21. mixture
  22. is smooth.
  23. Cook, stirring
  24. until
  25. mixture
  26. boils
  27. and
  28. thickens. Remove from heat. Stir in chard and cheeses, then turn into a 2 quart casserole sprayed with nonstick coating (or butter and flour casserole). Top with
  29. bread crumbs.
  30. Dot with remaining 2 tablespoons butter and bake at
  31. 425u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes or until bubbly.
