Denver Biscuits

  1. Scald 1
  2. quart milk.
  3. Mix sugar and Crisco together and add to milk; cool.
  4. Add yeast which has been dissolved in 1/4 cup of warm
  5. water.
  6. Add enough flour (about 7 cups) to make a dough with the
  7. consistency
  8. of cake dough.
  9. Let rise 1 hour. Mix baking powder
  10. and
  11. salt and sprinkle over bread mixture. Dissolve soda int/4
  12. cup water and pour over bread mixture. Stir in
  13. well. Add
  14. aboutt
  15. cups
  16. of
  17. flour to make biscuit dough.
  18. Refrigerate for
  19. 20
  20. minutes
  21. before making biscuits. Dough may be kept in sealed container in refrigerator and used as needed.
  22. Cook biscuits at 400u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
  23. They do not need to rise before baking.
