Denver Biscuits
- 1 qt. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 10 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/4 c. water
- Scald 1
- quart milk.
- Mix sugar and Crisco together and add to milk; cool.
- Add yeast which has been dissolved in 1/4 cup of warm
- water.
- Add enough flour (about 7 cups) to make a dough with the
- consistency
- of cake dough.
- Let rise 1 hour. Mix baking powder
- and
- salt and sprinkle over bread mixture. Dissolve soda int/4
- cup water and pour over bread mixture. Stir in
- well. Add

- cups
- of
- flour to make biscuit dough.
- Refrigerate for
- 20
- minutes
- before making biscuits. Dough may be kept in sealed container in refrigerator and used as needed.
- Cook biscuits at 400u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
- They do not need to rise before baking.
