You Can'T Beat A Burger

  1. Combine tomato sauce, sugar and oregano in a small saucepan. Reserve 1/3 cup of mixture; set aside.
  2. Cook remaining mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly heated.
  3. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  4. Combine beef, 1/3 cup reserved sauce, salt and pepper; mix well.
  5. Shape into 6 patties about 3/4-inch thick.
  6. Place burgers on the rack of a broiler pan.
  7. Broil 5 inches from heat for 5 minutes on each side or until burgers reach desired degree of doneness.
  8. Place patties on bottom half of buns; top each with a slice of cheese, onion and pickle.
  9. Broil until cheese melts.
  10. Spoon sauce over patties and cover with top half of buns.
